The medieval period is a beautiful sunset that occurs as darkness descends, symbolized by sunsets and moonlight. Culture emerges from play as a bud of the Renaissance. The ideal life rooted in the era of the red dusk consists of three paths. Firstly, it involves escaping from the mundane world, denying worldly pleasures absolutely. Secondly, it involves striving to change the world, ardently desiring a transformed society. Thirdly, it involves filling life with fantasy, living life as a game. The paths of escape and struggle are taken by a tiny minority, while fantasy is a journey that many can embark upon. The quality of fantasy is determined by accumulated knowledge and intellectual abilities. When the realm of fantasy is beneficial and enjoyable, it truly becomes genuine play.     We delve into The Function of Reason(In English, 2023 Revision).     Prologue.   Whitehead (1861-1947) is a philosopher from England. He asserts that reason is an impulse toward empty concreteness. That impulse is not empty. It is a fundamental force that can give birth to something. This impulse of mind is appetition, which is an inherent agent of transcendental goals. Therefore, empty concreteness is embodied as material enjoyment. Whitehead's reason cannot exist without appetition. Jeong Yi-cheon of the Northern Song Dynasty, who developed Neo-Confucianism, also believed that the main body cannot be separated from the phenomenon. Whitehead advocates Plato, stating that all of Western philosophy is just a footnote to Plato's philosophy. However, he overcomes Plato by creating his own organic philosophy. Nietzsche, Marx, and Freud are also critics of the Platonic system. Plato's original sin is his ideology that isolates humans from the world and alienates them for 2000 years. Idea corresponds to all phenomena in a monolithic and organic manner. Whitehead can be seen as a Copernican Übermensch. ‘The Function of Reason’ is a lecture given at Princeton University in 1929.     We delve into The Tao Te Ching(In English, 2023 Revision).   Prologue.   Lao Tzu, believed to have lived during the Jin Dynasty, which was ruled by the descendants of Shun, the originator of ritual practices, was born in Gokin-ri of the Zhou Dynasty. In 534 B.C., the Jin Dynasty was overthrown by the Zhou Dynasty. Laozi is said to have been a contemporary of Confucius, living during the 6th or 5th century BCE. In 501 B.C., when Confucius was 51 years old, during the Spring and Autumn Period, he embarked on a journey to seek out Laozi, described as an elderly man with a full head of hair, to learn about the proper etiquette of the Jin Dynasty. According to 'Zhuangzi', they met near the middle-upper stream of Huisu, not far from the Sang of the former Jin dynasty. It was during this encounter that Confucius first encountered Laozi's philosophy of natural spontaneity and self-liberation. After realizing its stark contrast with his own teachings centered around humanity and the goal of cultivating a harmonious society, Confucius turned away. Lao Tzu, feeling disillusioned with the state of the world in an era of chaos, retreated from society, recognizing the impermanence of human affairs.     노자의 언어로 세상을 성찰하다(In Korean, 2023 개정판).   프롤로그 Prologue.   노자는 진陳나라 상相 사람으로, 초楚나라의 고현苦懸 여향厲鄕 곡인리曲仁里에서 출생한다. 진陳나라는 예禮를 처음 만든 순舜의 후예가 다스리던 땅이다. B.C534년, 진陳나라는 초楚나라에 멸망한다. B.C501년, 노나라 중도재中都宰 공자(51세)는 진陳나라의 예법을 알아보려 백발이 성성한 노년의 노자를 찾아 원행遠行을 떠난다. ‘장자’의 기록에 따르면, 옛 진陳나라의 상相과 멀지 않은 패沛(회수淮水의 중상류)에서 만난다. 공자는 노자의 무위자연無爲自然 철학을 처음으로 접한다. 예와 인으로 세상을 치유하려한 자신의 인의仁義의 정치와 확연히 다름을 확인하고 공자는 발길을 돌린다. 초나라의 초평왕과 초소왕은 교만과 패악의 상징이다. 초楚나라의 초평왕(B.C528-516)은 아들 세자 건建의 신붓감인 진나라 공주 맹영孟嬴을 첩으로 삼고 세자 건을 죽인다. 세자 건의 스승인 오사仵奢와 그의 큰아들 역시 죽음을 당한다. 오사의 둘째아들인 오자서伍子胥는 오吳나라로 피신한다. 아버지와 형의 복수를 꾀한다. 초평왕이 죽자 진나라 공주 맹영孟嬴의 아들 초소왕이 뒤를 잇는다. 초소왕 역시 해괴망측한 일들을 자행한다. 탐욕에 눈이 멀어 인仁과 덕德을 찾아볼 수 없다.     We delve into Psychology of the Unconscious(In English, 2023 Revision).   Prologue.   Carl Gustav Jung was a Swiss psychiatrist. In 1902, he obtained his medical doctorate from the University of Zurich. He conducted extensive research under the supervision of psychologist Eugen Bleuler, who was a professor at the university. While collaborating with Freud, he began to study psychology in-depth. In 1908, at the age of 34, he co-founded the International Psychoanalytic Society with Freud. In 1912, after publishing 'Transformation and Symbolism of the Libido', he ended his professional relationship with Freud due to differences in their views on the unconscious mind. At the age of 44 in 1918, he further developed his theory of in-depth psychology, introducing the concept of the 'collective unconscious.' To study archetypes in the collective unconscious, he conducted comparative research in cultural and religious history. In 1930, he presented a paper that discussed the theoretical considerations of prototypes. In 1935, he organized and led the Eranos Conference, a gathering of scholars from around the world. Focusing on the influence of the collective unconscious's prototypes on personality and self-awareness, he immersed himself in the study of alchemy. In 1948, the Jung Institute was established in Zurich, Switzerland. In 1953, the complete English edition of his works was published. 'Psychology of the Unconscious' was written in 1912 when Jung was 38 years old. Jung explores the unconscious world by analyzing Miss Miller's fantasy system. Through a transcendent desire that surpasses time and space, he seeks to understand the nature of human conflicts. By uncovering the common threads connecting ancient times, he expands the understanding of the unconscious and develops intellectual insight. This book provides a concise summary of a lengthy and challenging text.

‘Sirius’ is the brightest star in the night sky. Its name is derived from the Greek word “Seirios,” meaning ‘glowing’ or ‘scorching.’ Imagining Sirius rising just before sunrise, I embark on the classic and humanities-inspired ‘Nomad’ journey.
